English Language & Literature
The English Language & Literature Department strongly believes that every student can become a competent and confident communicator. We provide a strong foundation in language skills through our comprehensive curriculum that extends beyond the classroom. Our approach focuses on developing students' critical thinking and communication abilities while fostering a lifelong love for reading and literature. Through engaging activities and authentic learning experiences, we nurture students who can express themselves effectively and appreciate the power of language. Our programmes are designed to build confidence in communication while developing the analytical skills needed for academic success and real-world application.
Key Programmes
Reading Programme
Our students embark on a reading journey that encourages wide exploration
of texts while fostering lifelong enjoyment of reading. Through guided
reading experiences, students improve their English language proficiency
while developing critical thinking skills. This programme builds students'
confidence as they discover diverse perspectives through reading, strengthening
their ability to communicate effectively and think analytically about the
world around them.
WEALTH/ English Language Week
Our students celebrate language learning through engaging activities including
Spelling Bee, poetry writing, puppetry workshops, Taboo and more! These
collaborative experiences allow students to demonstrate their communication
skills in fun, interactive ways while building teamwork and creativity.
Through these varied activities, students gain confidence in expressing
themselves and develop appreciation for the richness of English language
and literature.
