Direct School Admission (DSA) 2026

Background

The Direct School Admission for Secondary Schools (DSA-Sec) Exercise was introduced by the Ministry of Education in 2004. It provides a pathway for students to gain admission to secondary schools based on their interests, aptitudes, and potential, beyond their performance in the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).

Under the DSA-Sec Exercise, participating schools may select selected Primary Six (P6) students for admission to Secondary One before the release of the PSLE results.

Talent Areas

Our school’s vision is “Nurturing Thinkers, Inspiring Leaders, Empowering Advocates.” We believe that our Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) provide a valuable platform for students to “Challenge Convention and Champion their Passion.”

For DSA 2026, Guangyang Secondary School will offer the following talent areas for Primary 6 (P6) students:

Selection Criteria

Please refer to the table below for the selection criteria for each DSA talent area:

A physical assessment to evaluate speed, agility and jumping ability. ii. A skills assessment to evaluate ball-handling skills, teamwork and game awareness. iii. A short interview at the end of the trial session.
02	Badminton (Boys & Girls)	Relevant participation and achievements in Badminton.	Shortlisted applicants will undergo the following: i. A physical assessment to evaluate speed, footwork and jumping ability. ii. A skills assessment to evaluate racquet skills and game awareness. iii. A short interview at the end of the trial session.
03	Cross Country (Boys & Girls)	Relevant participation and achievements in Cross Country.	Shortlisted applicants will undergo the following: i. A physical assessment to evaluate stamina. A short interview at the end of the trial session.
04	English Drama (Boys & Girls)	Relevant participation and achievements in English Drama	Shortlisted candidates will undergo the following: A live audition comprising two monologues (one dramatic and one comedic) to assess the i. student’s acting skills and ability to convey emotions and character. ii. A live singing audition to assess the student’s sense of rhythm and melody. A short interview at the end of the audition.
05	Community Youth Leadership (Boys & Girls)	i. Applicants should be role models who have demonstrated excellent leadership skills and potential through their experiences in key leadership positions in primary school. ii. Applicants should indicate non-school-based achievements in their online application in MOE’s DSA Portal.	Shortlisted candidates will undergo the following: i. Submission of a leadership portfolio, including a personal leadership statement and relevant leadership experiences. ii. An interview to assess the student’s leadership experience, communication skills and commitment to community service.

Note:

Applicants who do not have prior experience may also apply. The school will assess applicants based on the selection criteria, which may include assessing the potential of the applicants.
No academic ability tests e.g. GAT/ HAST will be conducted during the selection process.
Meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted/given an offer.

Application Procedure

6 May – 2 June 2026	DSA Application period. You can go to the MOE DSA-Sec Website to access the DSA-Sec Portal (Note: You can only login via SINGPASS from 6 May).
29 June – 28 August 2026	Shortlisted Applicants will be invited to attend a Selection Trial cum Interview Session at our school.
17 August - 28 August 2026	Release of the DSA outcome by school
19 October – 23 October 2026	School Preference Submission by students
Late November 2026	Notification of DSA-Sec admission result (on the same day of the PSLE results release)

Note:
You will receive notification from the school by 31 July 2026 if your child has been shortlisted to undergo Direct School Admission (DSA) selection. All applicants will receive their application outcomes between 17 and 28 Aug 2026.
Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.
Singpass login can only be used by parents whose children are studying in the MOE mainstream primary schools.
For other applicants not studying in MOE mainstream primary schools, parents will need to apply for a Registration Number via the MOE website before they can access the DSA-Sec Portal.
