Band

The Guangyang Secondary School Band is a vibrant co-curricular activity that nurtures students' musical talents while building discipline and teamwork. Being in the band is more than learning instruments - we learn to work as a team through regular practices, becoming more expressive, disciplined, and confident while developing a shared passion for music. 

Led by dedicated instructors, members are exposed to diverse repertoires from classical to contemporary works. Through vigorous music training, students learn theory and practical aspects while developing character and inculcating values such as perseverance, responsibility, and cooperation, creating a close-knit family united by music.

Key Programmes

Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) 

SYF preparation is especially meaningful as it sharpens both musical and personal growth. Through dedicated rehearsals, students strengthen technical mastery and develop discipline, perseverance, and time management. Performing as a band nurtures teamwork and coordination as members listen, blend, and support one another. The experience builds confidence, stage presence, and critical thinking while cultivating pride, camaraderie, and deeper music appreciation.

Commendation Day Performance 

At GYSS annual Commendation Day, the band sets the celebratory tone with captivating performances ranging from uplifting marches to expressive melodies. Each performance reflects students' discipline, teamwork, and passion for music while showcasing dedication to excellence. Their harmonious contribution adds pride and distinction to the ceremony, creating vibrant atmospheres that honour achievements and leave lasting memories for all present.
